Prescription glasses come in various designs, each unique to the user’s wants or needs. Movies made glasses famous, where the smart, misunderstood nerd would wear them. It is still popular today, and many search for prescription nerd glasses.
Prescription eyewear is now as common, if not, more common than sunglasses. Some prescription eyeglasses can even be turned into sunglasses. This offers the protection of from the sun, while providing the correction to vision your eyes will need. As you can see, there are already variations to the eyeglasses itself. And as there are many variations, there are more different designs and styles.
Eyeglasses can be seen everywhere, even in the television, or movie screen. Made popular by the teenage nerds in the old movies set in high-schools, it was more or less a curse for the individuals. They were bullied for their difference, and because they were smart, talented and cunning individuals. They were seen as outcasts in their schools.
Even though there was a form of stigma applied on the use of eyeglasses, it was eventually phased out after a few years. In a time like today, almost everyone owns a pair of eyeglasses. Even in a common high-school, the sports jocks, cheer leaders, and general popular kids needs and owns a pair. Eyeglasses are now not limited to the smart nerds, as movies always depicted.
In the past, nerds were labeled as nerds through their outfits and typical nerdish eyewear. They were harassed, and bullied for being so different. And ironically enough, at present time, individuals seek the use of these nerd glasses, as the prescription nerd glasses are now used a fashion accessory. Even though they were labeled as ‘un-cool’ in the past, they are now popularly used in the fashion world to both make a statement, and to portray the wearer’s own personality and image.
Nerd glasses can be described as large, thick, and in some cases round pair of eyeglasses. The way one categorizes a specific pair of eyeglasses as nerd glasses, is through the presentation of the frame. The frame comes in many shapes, but the typical nerd eyewear is usually large, prominent, and simply eye catching. Another typical nerdish frame is the circular frame. Lenses also make nerd glasses what they are, through the use of thick lenses, which was common look that the nerdish kids wore in the past movies.
It only goes to show, that eyeglasses should not, and will not be limited to the nerds, geeks, or the ‘outcasts’. Because every nerd, like Clark Kent, can surprise us and take off his pair of nerd glasses, to become Superman.
